The image from the Canon R7 camera is not good, you can see large pixe

Good morning. I installed a new update and I have a problem with the image. The image from the Canon R7 camera is not good, you can see large pixels and it is not suitable for viewing. The problem only occurs with Canon R7 after installing the new Vegas 21 (build 300). Everything was fine before. Please help me, what should I do to make the image display properly?

Either uninstall 300 and reinstall 208 or check "experimental HEVC" or "legacy AVC" decoding in options/preferences/ file io in VEGAS depending on what your media is.

This pixelation is a well known bug for MXF-files, that is under review. yes, reinstall b 208, until there is a solution.

Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately, once the project has been launched in a newer version, it does not want to open in the older version. This causes big problems because I have to reinstall or wait for the correct version without errors. Can a project opened in a newer version be opened in an older version of the program? How to do it ?

RogerS wrote on 4/26/2024, 2:37 AM

Do you have an even older version like 20? If so cut and paste the timeline from 300 to 20 and then save the .veg. That file will open in 21.208.

Unfortunately, I don't have this version, I have to download it. I don't understand "from 300 to 20"?

Wolfgang S. wrote on 4/26/2024, 2:56 AM

You will need an older version of Vegas to do that. So, as suggsted by Roger Vegas pro 20 for example. If you have such a version, you can open both Vegas Pro 21 with the build 300, and the older Vegas Pro 20. I both is opened, you could mark the timeline in Vegas Pro 21 b 308, copy the timeline to Vegas pro 20, save it in Vegas Pro 20. And then deinstall Vegas Pro 21 b300, install Vegas Pro 21 b208, and open the project you have saved from within Vegas Pro 20.

Complicated, I know. But unfortunatly this is the way.

I'm trying to follow the instructions, but Vegas 20 doesn't want to install. I guess I have to wait until this error is fixed by the manufacturer Magix. You just don't know how long you have to wait?

Wolfgang S. wrote on 4/26/2024, 5:52 AM

There is no information about that available.

... but Vegas 20 doesn't want to install

Different versions of Vegas Pro can happily exist on the same computer at the same time and, usually, installing an earlier version shouldn't be a problem. Is there any indication as to why Vegas Pro 20 doesn't want to install? Could you describe what happens when you tried to install VP20; for example, did it get to specific stage and then stall? If yes, at what stage (the splash screen would show that)? The final build of VP20 is build 4111 - is that the build that you have tried to install?

For the time being, the method outlined by RogerS is a very good workaround, but keep in mind that any track/project level video/audio effects will need to be set again because copy/pasting a timeline only copies the timeline events and their FX, but not track or project level FX or for that matter any event level FX applied in the copied VP version but aren't available in the older VP version.

An update is in the works. We have getting the final fixes in place and hope to begin full release testing of the patch soon. I cannot give a date yet, but we are working as quickly as possible to get the patch released, but we want to be careful not to introduce any new bugs.
