The "Media Offline" Problem

I've run into this now, after thinking I finally solved it. I downloaded a codec pack so it would work. But then I updated the pack and now the problem came back, I tried uninstalling the pack, uninstalling it and going back to the previous pack I was using but neither worked. Does anybody have a solution to this?

Could you go back to when it worked with the Windows Restore function?

When Vegas loses focus, it releases files so that other programs can use them. The timeline will show "Media Offline" at that time. When Vegas regains focus, it reattaches those files and the "Media Offline" message will go away.

If you don't want Vegas to release media when it loses focus, you can turn that off in the preferences. However, then you can't edit items on the timeline in other programs like you can if Vegas releases them.

I unchecked the box but nothing happened, unless I have to wait for it to do something.

If Vegas has the focus and it reads "Media Offline" - then either the media is NOT there, it's pointing to the wrong location, or something else is going on.
