The "safe" area

Hi evryone,
Every time I have captured from the DV cam I use (XL1) The safe area seems to correlate with my TV monitor I'm previewing on. Yesterday I captured from a VHS VCR via a GL1 (because the XL1 can't do it)and now if I drag a logo to the bottom right corner of the safe area, it partially disappears on my TV preview. Any ideas on what's going on (what I'm doing wrong)?

But I've already submitted it and they loved it, so I guess it looked Okay (at least on their TV).

That is part of the problem with safe areas. They vary by TV. Most of the safe areas guides are just that, a guide. There are no absolutes.
