The system is low on memory

"The system is low on memory" I have message while try to render about 1 hour film. I had this problem since I installed vms 10 platinum and now I try to test vms 10 pro with the same problem. I had 4 GB of ram and recently upgraded to 12 GB and one good thing about this is that now only vsm is stoping to render where previouselly all system went down. I'm running win 7 64 bit on intel i7 860 processor. Could anybody give me some advice where to search for the problem?
Thanks in advance

32bit apps like VMS can only use 2 GBs of RAM normally, no matter how much RAM you add. To get over the limitation, hacks need to be employed: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=727069&Replies=9

Personally I never had such error messages, so make sure no unneeded background services run when you use Vegas.

Check your available disk size. Somethimes this is related to the disk you are tying to render to.

Download and run Large Address Aware from http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=112556 on VegasMovieStudioPE100.exe. See other threads for why you need to do this,

Thanks everybody for a fast reply, I've just downloaded and installed "LAA" app - applied the trick and so far it is working! To speed up the test a little (in form of crash not rendering time) I'm rendering with - "32-bit float video processing" - option On - where previously having this option On program has crashed almost immediately after pressing "Render as" button. So far so good already running for 25 min. another 6 hrs to go.
I just don't understand why having Win 64 bit and VMS 10 Pro I had to apply this change? But anywhere thanks again!

I'm back yes I think that I've posted above topic far too soon! Just about hour later VMS has stopped working with something like "unexpected error has acquired bla bla bla" To be sure I did repeat render test with "Pixel format: 32-bit floating point" and as well as "8-bit" and try to render as: "MainConcept MPEG" with similar effects. However I managed to successfully render as: "Sony AVC" template. Doe's someone know if there is perhaps another trick I could apply here to get this thing working as advertised by Sony?

Andy, how long is your project, and how many clips have you got on the timeline? If it's very long or complex you might be better off rendering it into, say, half-hour segments, then combining them.

Thanks Rainer for an advice. Actually I didn't thought about splitting this film into smaller segments, but if I do so how do I join all this together into one piece later? My project consist about 70 clips + 360 photos (2-3 MB average +6 Min + background music) all with transitions, in total time 90 Min. I did rendered this project in platinum 10 version with Sony AVC (m2ts) template and shorter one for Vimeo. But with Pro version being advertised for halve price and possibility of using still images in their original size (Pixel format - 32 bit floating point) which I would presume wouldn't degrade quality of my photos attached to my movie, it could be interesting option to upgrade - if the program works as advertised.
If you would be so kind to enlighten me how to join smaller pieces of rendered project in to one than maybe this would be a solution or rather work around this issue.

Hi Andy, Render the segments to the format you want, then put the renders into a new project and re-render. It's much easier for Vegas to process only three same-format items on the timeline regardless of length. If you render to something supporting smart render you won't lose quality and it won't take any time at all for the final render. Also, if there's a particular item on the timeline causing problems, you can identify the segment that it's in, then keep splitting that segment until you find what it is.

I don't think there's any HD format that VMS can smart render.

thank you all for trying to help. I'm afraid that TOG62 is correct saying that there is no smart rendering with HD.
