The Trimmer

I have purchased Movie Studio 3.0t two weeks ago and like it very much. I am not quite sure how to do accurate trimming of video clips or events. I noticed that if you right click on a video event you can "Open Media in the Trimmer." A window opens below left. In my manual there does not seem to be a reference to the Trimmer window. How does it work.

My main question is what is the best way to actually see what you are trimming. I see how to trim by dragging the normal Editing Tool or Cursor but I cannot figure out how to tell exactly where you are on the clip. In Pinnacle Studio a separate window opens and you drag either end to cut from the beginning or the end. What's the deal with MS3?

Here's something very easy and simple that i do ... i move my cursor to the position in the clip where i want the clip to start. You can see the current frame displayed in the preview window. Zoom in using the up arrow key if you want more precise control. After finding the start postion, leave the cursor there and use the mouse to drag the start of the clip to the cursor position. You can repeat the same procedure at the end of the clip, keeping in mind that you will want to see the frame after the last frame you want in the preview window.

If your clip is long or has parts that you want to split up into individual events you can consider using the S key to split at the cursor position, then delete the leftover parts you don't want.

Elegant and brilliant!! It is obvious once you explained it, but I never would have figured it out by myself. I am really beginning to like MS3.
Thank you so much.

I believe that the still image shown in the timeline at the beginning and end of the event show the beginning and ending point of the video. These change while you are trimming the clip to let you see where your trimming point is.
