Why dose it seem like there are less the 12 themes ava anywhere on the internet for DVD Arc? Is there some site I should know about with full themes and not just backgrounds?
Thanks, but most of us start there. I guess I am surprised for such expensive software, there are now outside sites that seem to support this. Makes me wonder if this is really a good software to really be spending time on if no one is buying it.
May I suggest you do something about this? Make your own themes and buttons. Make your themes with Photohshop, Lightwave 3D or After Effects. Too expensive? So, use your imagination with Photoshop or any software you find cheaper. Buttons? Same thing: Photoshop...or you can draw and scan them yourself.
The lack of themes is due, I think, to Sony's lack of a dynamic third-party developer program. One big key to winning in software is getting other companies to support your product. These other companies can "plug the holes" with features the main product may never have. They can help people like yourself, who are either too busy or don't have the skills to create templates, to produce better quality work. There is a safe feeling in working with a product that has such support, and a "kind of" walking the tightrope without a net feeling in using a product that doesn't have it.
Sony certainly has the ability to lead in this area, but like so many other "hardware" companies, their software divisions often don't behave in the same way that most competitive software companies do.
In answer to your question, there are a few other themes that were developed by Brian Barnes, who also developed a DVDA theme editor, but his site disappeared.
The site disappeared while I attempt to update the editor to work with DVDA v. 2. I've got it so that it will load/save the new theme elements in V2, but you can't edit them yet.
Unfortunately, my 3 year old son has been taking up most of my time over the past few months, so I have had very little time to work on it. In addition, I've converted everything over to using the .NET framework V2 as well, which is only now in Beta, so most people probably wouldn't be able to run it yet anyway.
I agree, SONY should be taking charge here, yes in a perfact world I could make all my own clothes and button too! But in reality, a lot of us have jobs that go way beyond 60 hours a week and this is just a hobby for some.
SONY should wise up, other companies like Adobe, have all sorts of user and commercial places to share themes, action scripts etc. Its like a new religion, for better or worse, the more people you bring into the flock, the stronger you become. Look at Photoshop for example, there are many clones or knock offs around but its got to be the most widely used graphic software on the PLANET! Look at how many user sites, and free stuff you can trade one you buy the program. And commercial plugins do well too because there are so many useres.
