Funny you'd ask...I came across a TERRIFIC General Electric film on this from the early 1950's that goes very indepth, very simple to understand, and so I got permission to include it in the Vegas 5 book.

This site has some good insght on de-interlacing, but it might be worth something to look at.

The 100fps site is very good. If you want to research more on your own, search for "deinterlace" in Google. The best tutorials are found on sites that try to explain how to convert from interlaced to progressive footage (which is probably what you are trying to do).
