Thin Black Bars in Frame

Hey...

I'm editing with Vegas 7, and I have problems with thin black bars on the sides of my frame when rendering avi files, and thin bars on the bottom and top when rendering MP4 files.

Zooming in wont make the bars go away, unless I render with the bars - then I can zoom in to that rendered file, and that makes them disappear, but I loose quality when I have to zoom in.

Has anybody else had this problem?

Thanks, Jeff

This is due to slight aspect differences between your media and renders.
When rendering, check the box that says "Stretch media to fill output" and the thin lines will go away.

Yeah, it's always checked, but the black bars remain. They are also present even when there is no difference in media types. If I'm working with avi files and rendering avi files with the same aspect ratio, the bars are still there....

Then you've inadvertently left some pan/crop or track motion on the timeline.

It is normal to have some thin lines in the preview with mixed media types, but if the "Stretch to fill output" is checked in the render, they will go away in the finished product unless you have changed something as mentioned.

If you would care to upload a short sample of your original media somewhere, we'd be glad to have a look at it.

Use Event Pan/Crop on the timeline events.

Right-click on the "F" and select "Match Output Aspect".
