things don't preview in Vegas 7?

Just getting settled in in Vegas 7 and for the most part I love it.

However, I don't like keyframing certain things.

3D Motion works like I think it should. In my track motion popup if i click the mini keyframe "Position" timeline I can see the rough preview in the popup and on the Vegas preview screen. This is nice becuase it lets me know what the heck is going on.

However, if I drag media from the Media Generator, say puffy clouds and I open up the Video Event FX for puffy clouds to manually control the clouds and I start making changes on the "Noise Texture" timeline in the "Event FX" pop-up the changes don't show in the Video preview. I tried this on regular text generated by the media generator with the goal of making the text change color via keyframe. I messed with effects and created a bunch of keyframes in the "TEXT" timeline, but had to go back to the timeline and play it to get any kind of preview. I then found that V7 will preview text changes, sort of, in the placement tab.

So how do I get previews of my changes in generated media. Why did Sony take this feature out as a default?

I totally agree with you.
Working with keyframed generated media is absolutely not handy.
I asked technical support why this strange behaviour but I didn’t get answer yet.

This answer was supplied by Sonic Foundry / Sony several years ago.

"Sync to timeline is grayed out for generated media because the media might be used in muliple events, which might use time stretching or velocity envelopes. It's not always a one-to-one mapping, so sync is always grayed out."

This is the same thing with all media (like DV). And there isn't the Sync Cursor limitation...
