this happens a lot...

When playing mp3's in Vegas Video, it is unable to play the whole thing. After a while, the sound becomes silent (this time 10 minutes into the mp3). It does this randomly with certain mp3's. I downloaded BT - Ima (Disc 1 and Disc 2) and both albums (with all of their songs as one file) have this problem. I believe it must be something to do with the codec used or errors in ripping the person's CD. Anyone know about this? I know for a fact the same mp3 works in Sound Forge, as most do. Is this an error in Vegas Video?

Let me remind you that there is no sound, just silence...

I'll run down some stats of the mp3 via EncSpot 2.0. I have no clue what I'm about to say, but maybe it will show a problem

I had this problem with the original release of VV 3.0 but it still played a long mp3 up to about 30-40 minutes. Anything after that would just be silence, but you could still see the waveform displayed on the timeline. I'm pretty sure it works fine now since 3.0a.

actually this is happening with VV3a and VV3b for me.

I don't use MP3s, but you could render it to a wave file and use that on the timeline. I've heard that MP3s cause lots of NLE programs to choke.

i ended up using Sound Forge...

another thing happened with another MP3 recently...it was VBR and would only play the first 6:20 of the over 70 minute track (the timeline was only 6:20 in both VV and SF - it was also the time of the first song). In this instance I had to convert to WAV...this is the MP3 I'm refering to this time: http://www.freedb.org/freedb_search_fmt.php?cat=rock&id=a211530b
