This is 101 Stuff! - Regions Trimmer? Regions T/L?

This is very basic . . .

Just experimented . . Regions from Trimmer - how do they become Regions for the T/L? I've made regions within trim and they exsist in Explorer as Regions. Pull onto T/L they are straight filenamed events .. not regions? YES . .I should know better .. I've been ill . .. PLease!?

Grazie

After lifting them to the timeline, double click 'em, hit R and name 'em Grazie.

edit - when I say name 'em Grazie, I don't mean name 'em "Grazie" - but you knew that! Unless, of course, you wan to name 'em "Grazie"

I'll go and lie down now.

Peter . .WAKE up!

So, regions Named in trimmmer can't be imported as "Named" regions from Explorer? I think we've done this B4? If this IS the case then it's daft! Bit like double handling ..

Thanks Peter . .just tell me the above assumoption by me is correct - please?

Grazie

It is correct Grazie, but ...

Timeline Regions define a part of a program, maybe including several tracks, composites, etc etc.

This is very different from Trimmer Regions, which define parts of a single clip.

The main thing they have in common is they both have a beginning and an end, but they are different animals.

Grazie,

In the Options|Preferences|General dialog, check the "Automatically Save Trimmer Markers & Regions with the Media File" box. Now, any named regions you set in the Trimmer will automatically appear in Vegas' Explorer "Regions View" window.

Also, if you check "Always Draw Marker Lines" you will be able to see orange (for markers) or green (for regions) lines corresponding to those set in the Trimmer when you place these files as events on the timeline.

Hope this helps.

BS, thanks. However regions IN trim aren't the same as regions in T/L - shame really. But I do appreciate the need for it. G
