Actually we consider the forum a peer support area. Some Foundry
employees lurk and post.
I answer what I can when I can. We hope that users would support each
other on these forums.
If you have a technical problem, please contact our tech support. If
you have a pre-sales question, please contact our sales department.
Feel free to try here. There are many helpful forum users. Vegas is
new, so don't expect many experts.
Hey, we believe Vegas is easy to use. Easy enough that anybody can
master the UI and its features. The experts will be here to help with
producing better mixes and not having to help with how do I do this
or this in Vegas. Share ideas on using Vegas to make a better mix.
Get the software out of the way of the process of creating music.

My apologies. I clicked on 'Support' on your main page, and 'Forums'
was one of the choices.
As far as 'get the software out of the way', you are correct. I'd
love to. Actually I have, and *had* when I made the first post 4 days
ago. It'd just be nice to verify I'm getting the maximum results.
Now if I could only receive a reply to my original post.....
Regardless, so far I'm quite pleased with Vegas. I dumped a VS880
system to go with Vegas and a MOTU1224. The interface is very
intuitive and reactive, and putting a song together takes about 1/4
of the time. It's pretty exciting to do things like complex pan
envelopes in seconds, rather than stare at a 1" x 3" VS880 monochrome
display for 2 hours.
My only gripe so far is the lack of effects. I read that it's being
worked on, but they can't become available a moment too soon. You
ought to hear my pipes without a generous portion of chorus thrown
on....yikes!
What lack of FX? You can use any plugins you want with Vegas. The
track FX are limited to the included Compressor, EQ, gate. Any other
plugins can be used with Vegas as Assignable FX or bus insert FX.
You can patch a Chorus to your vocal track using the traditional
send/return model that most mixers support. Just set up the Chorus as
an assignable FX and set the send level from your vocal track(s) to
the chorus. You can then rout the chorus FX to any main bus you have
set up.
Take a look at the signal flow diagram in the users guide, this may
prove useful.

Peter - Thanks for the advice on the FX, I'll give it a whirl.

Ahh, the infamous 'CYA' terms. One thing SF should consider: Many (if
not most) people have an internet connection, and would probably
rather get an answer from a SF employee online, rather than call your
non-toll-free support line.
Many companies tend to push the forums, that keeps their support
people from spending all day on the phone answering moronic questions
like mine. Either way, it looks like you have the bases covered, and
I'll gladly call in to support next time I need a more urgent answer.
