Thumbnails display

After 20 years of grandchildren I have about 500 Gig of footage and must start sorting it out. Any suggestions as to best ways to browse clips and copying same to an 'edit' drive. Good thumb nail display program ? Recommendation for best (good) render format considering clips range from digitized analogue to 2k HD. Ultimate storage to USB sticks I suppose?

Thanks, Brian

I like to use Adobe Bridge, which is good for sorting lots of different kinds of files (video, photo, etc.) and you can storyboard by using collections and drag clips into any order you want (it is FREE by the way; you don't need a CC subscription.) There is the new MYNC browser, and of course Sony's free Catalyst Browse.

Render to format for whatever device it will be watched on. I like to "archive" on hard drives, but you should spin these up periodically.
