Thumbnails in Explorer view?

I just bought a new Win7 computer and can finally see my HD videos files in thumbnail view within windows video library. Unfortunately, in Vegas Pro 9c, the thumbnails don't display any of the HD video file contents in the Explorer view in the preview section - you just see the same graphic icon for each file. Thumbnails only show the contents after they have been added to the project media bin. Is there a way to turn on the thumbnail view in Explorer/preview view? I have been shooting with a Canon HF100 and produce AVCHD Video (.MTS) files.

I notice you can right click on a folder in explorer and see a picture rather than the icon but the video won't play even though you are kinda in the preview window. Maybe the icon view can be changed via installation of media manager? Any ideas, tips, will be greatly appreciated.

Media Manager does the job! Sadly I think this should be part of the program and not a separate installation. But at least now I can see the video clip contents in preview mode and play them. Dear SONY, please make this part of the program and not an add-on. This seems like a very basic feature that should be included by default.

JV1, it used to be part of the install, but so many people disliked it and complained, they made it a seperate program. They do try to respond.

I think it is a good compromise, because I was one of the ones who didn't like the early versions. I have not used it lately, but I hear it has improved.

It seems to work pretty well. I can change the size of the thumbnails easily with a little slider bar and I can play the files in the preview mode. I don't know why anyone wouldn't want this feature unless it was buggy and slowed down the computer. But I just got an i7 processor and win7 64 bit, so I trust it will work smoothly. I'll post back if I run into problems. Now I have to figure out the nuances of seeing (or hearing) what I want to see/hear - it seems pretty complicated if you want it to be. When I installed it from the download it suggestd I downlood some audio loops, which I l did and now I'll have some fun seeing what that's all about.

Actually, it had NOTHING to do with the Media Manager itself. People started complaining because it installed the Microsoft SQL Server runtime, like that was some "evil" code. Apparently. Microsoft is not too smart about supporting it's own products and people had installation compatibility issues (which were clearly Microsoft's fault) but Sony was taking all the heat so they made it an optional install. The .Net Framework cause the same kind of uproar when Sony started using it as well.

It never gave me any problems and I agree that it should continue to be part of the program. I don't think of it as an optional install as much as a separate install to make the download smaller.
