Tick, Tick, Tick

This may be a purely DVDA question, but may relate to how a clip is prepared in Vegas, so here I go...

In DVDA, there are black "ticks" (small, inverted triangles) at the bottom of the clip on the video timeline. These markings never appear to align with anything on my projects. Frames appear to align in sync with the "Time and Frames" ruler, but not the "ticks".

I always keep Quantize To Frames activated in both Vegas and DVDA. The quality of the finished DVDs are excellent.

What are the ticks and should they be of any concern?

Thanks

If you expand your timeline out a bit, you'll find that those ticks align to the points where the preview images redraw. Not much use, really.

The black ticks "point" to the place on the timeline whre the thumbnailed reference frame exists.

Did I say that right?

EDIT: Beat me to it...

However, I disagree about them not being useful. If I see a thumbnail and know where I want to be in relationship to that scene, it's nice to know where it is exactly on the timeline.
