Tiff uses the Quicktime engine. PNG is handled natively. Given each the same size, PNG should be faster.

png is faster, but tga is more accurate, or seems to be. I've seen color shift in some png files, I believe BJ_M has too, among others.
tif is tremendously. Do a test render of both, you'll see it.

I use both. For a real treat .. . don't tell everybody .. . import an animated GIF! I've got a cartoon-type one of myself typing on a keyboard. I use it as my logo . .very funny . .very slick!

gif is sometimes a great import format for text from a powerpoint export ..

it will look better than the jpeg or avi export from powerpoint ..

but otherwise in vegas i stick with targa files ..

B_JM, please tell us more! How do you get an animated GIF out of PowerPoint? Does it have all the "Entry Animation" you've applied to the text in PowerPoint? Do you have to format the slides for an "on-screen slideshow" or some "custom" layout. Please take a minute to explain...please.

Nice tip. I never thought of putting an animated GIF in a Vegas project. I guess I jut assumed onlly the first frame would be used. Huh.

I thought it was pretty wonky when I discovered that DVDA menus will accept and "honor" animaged GIFs.

In the PowerPoint "File" menu you can use the "Save As" or "Save as Web Page" selections.

After you select the "File name:" of your Powerpoint presentation you have a "Save as type:". Click on down arrow to bring up drop down selections menu. The one you want is "GIF Graphics Interchange Format".

Tried saving as a GIF, and while all the text was there, none of the PowerPoint animation was (Fly From Left, etc.).

Is there a trick to getting the PowerPoint animation embedded in the GIF?

I think the two of you are talking about two different things.

You can export Powerpoint slides as GIF, but they will not be animated.
