DV = 13GB per hour.... so 50min = 10.83GB

You only have to convert it to MPEG2... if you want to output to DVD.

Yes MPEG2 has higher compression that DV AVI... so in effect you will be "losing" quality wise.... but that's what you have to do if you want to output to DVD.
