Time Code and Two Tapes

I have a project where I am trying to use two tapes shot simultaneously with their timecodes synched together. Is there a way to import that time code into VV3 so it can be monitored? Is there a way to lock the tape on the time line so it won't accidentally slide around when trying to edit between the two. It's a long project. A high school play. I broke it into two projects -- ACT 1 and ACT 2. Anyone tried this?

Not that I know of. You can set Options>Prefs>Video>Show Source....>Timecode. This will display original timecode on the timeline.

You can also drop a new timecode as a whole project (displays on monitor). VideoFX>Timecode>Absolute Frames>Drag to monitor. (If you drag to timeline instead it will do it clip by clip).

Thanks. This works if the tapes are DV. But your suggestions helped. I actually shot the event on DVC Pro and brought it into the computer using a Canopus AVDC. Unfortunately, the time code from a DVC Pro tape won't follow it through that path. But your second suggestion works great. I think if I do it again I'll actually use a clap board because it's a fairly simple matter to spot that sound on the wave form and line it up. Thanks again.

Just a curious question, but doesn't DVC Pro allow firewire transfers directly? I'm wondering why you used the ADVC converter.
