Time code effect bug?

A friend of mine told me that the timecode effect which he applied in a video was different than the time of the project that appears on Vegas. It was a 2 frames difference in a 1 minute video. He told me that he used the effect on the track and not on the event.
I tried to do repeat this at home and the same problem happened.

My workflow was:
Shot on miniDv (sony TRV22...consumer camcorder)
Captured via Firewire with VidCap with scene detection turned OFF(Vegas 5b)
Imported to Vegas timeline

Then I applied the timecode effect on the Track and the 2-frame difference was there.
Then i tried on event, then preview window and finally on Media pool. And the 2-frame difference was still there...

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks
Daniel

Did you set the Timecode to match your project? Right click on the ruler in Vegas and look at what its set for. The default is Time & Frames. The default for the Sony Timecode is SMPTE Drop (29.97 fps, Video). Set them the same and there should not be any discrepancy.

I had exactly the same problem last week when I tried this, and the problem is as yet unresolved. No matter what I tried, there was always a 2 frame difference. I resorted to simply printing a "Time & Frames" count, which was always accurate.
