Time Lapse?

I just bought Vegas Pro 9.0, coming from an Adobe background. In Premiere to speed up a clip producing a time lapse effect all you did was right click on the clip and change the speed/duration of the clip (ie, 500%, 2000%,e tc) to get the sped up effect. Does anyone know if that can be done in Vegas Pro 9.0?

Sorry if this seems an elementary question. I cannot find the answer anywhere nor figure it out. Pulling my hair out.

Method #1.
Right-click the clip and change the Playback rate as desired.
4.000 (400%) is the max.

Method #2.
Right-click the clip and select Insert/remove Envelope - Velocity.
Drag this line to the top of the event for a 300% increase.
Envelopes can be keyframed too.

Combine both methods for a 1200% increase.

You'll need to pay attention to the fact that, unless you shorten the clip after using either method, the clip will repeat.
Pay attention to the V-shaped notch that will appear at the top of the timeline.
This notch appears each time that the clip repeats itself.

Sorry for another stupid question, but when I right click the clip, I don't see anything that shows the ability to change the Playback rate.

(I feel like a rookie here!)

Right-click and choose PROPERTIES. The playback rate is found in the properties.

An easy way to change the playback rate is to hold down the CTRL key and resize the clip. If you make it as short as it will go, that will be 400%

To smooth out the motion try this

Duplicate clip 2x add comp for top 2 clips, reduce comp for over exposure
Extend or shorten play back rate in scale of each duplicated clip to create ghosting
