Time lapse cap

Newbie here. New to Vegas, been in the business since 1978.

Question:

Is there a way to capture single video frames from a DV stream coming via a camera's DV out? I'm aware of speeding up a clip, but I'm talking more like a frame a second (or so) for several days at a time. Any way to set up capture to do this? I have an alternate method using the VX-1000's time lapse feature, but it's clunky. Be much nicer to grab a single frame of running DV "every now and then".

Alternatively, capture using your camcorder's "time lapse" feature, and then use my time lapse script to exctract one frame from each capture. Here's the link to the script:
