I use dynapel slowmotion which draws interpoloted frames.. prob with this is that if there is a harsh camera flash, to an intense of fast changes of contrast between one frame and the next (usually on slower shutter settings) it gets a lil flaky..
I only just did a comparison and with Interlaced, vegas can ramp velocity without a problem.. nice ans smooth.. no issues..
usually down to about 25%...
If you try to run a pan and crop on this with Odd numbers, then you can forget it.. so if your odoign pan and crops with slowmotion, make sure your using even numbers.. factors of 8 in fact...
with progressive, u can forget it.. it simply doubles the frames to extend the duration as opposed to redrawing the entire frame..
Looks like crud... seriously flawed internet kinda undersampled stream.. its THAT bad...
So in essence, every frame is seen twice (ie frames 123456 etc are stretched out to become frames 1122334455 which is pretty bad IMO considering what the other NLEs are offering at this time.. In fact not too long ago, vegas was kind in this regard (slowmotion) now though.. well its another story as NLEs evovled.. and Vegas sat on its lawrels..
One good thing though is that as vegas is such a nice player with interlaced material, if you start with interlacd footage, and slowdown, and render out to progressive, your progressive frames look pretty bloody good..
Same applies wth interlace to interlace..
But if your source is progressive, forget it.. Dont bother using vegas vegas for your slowmotion
You dont have to agree with me, as for some people the jerkiness is accetptable..
For me its not.. Especially on a HD panel showing 1080p footage..
Coming from someone whos been dealing with progressive footage now for over 5 or 6 years and and from somoene whos been bicthing about the same thing about Vegas for that same mount of time... i think its pretty appaling to see absolutely no change in the way progessive material is handled...
With 1080p becomnig more and more readily availabe within handycams and delivery options, i think its somethng that seriously needs to be looked at.. .

Thanks for the reply, I'm in tune with you. I understand that FCP
has time remapping now as part of the program. Maybe the guys
at Sony will try to add this sometime-who knows.
well its not actual remapping see. thats bog standard Slow mo, no matter how you fancy up the name..
Vegas is actualy quite pwerful in this regard with 3 different methods of slowmotion
Velocity which allows an instant visual viewpoint of the ramp in question during playback (unlike Liquid which is an entire screen.window on its own)
then there is the cntrl Drag method, which works in percentiles (not frames). This is pretty good as you can still see how much youve stretched your video ONLY if you keep yoru audio track as this info is on the audio track as apercentage reading not the video track whch only gives yo a zig zag)
Then there is the percential via decimal point by going into the clip properties..
this is god for quick and dirty slowo.. nice and accurate and no fuss.. just wack in how slow you want it to go and voila..
now many other apps offer this kind of hands on control
the issue here with vegas is the fact that it cant handle Progressive scan interpolation. It jsut WONT draw the frames required for a smooth progressive slowmo.
