Time Stretch

I'm having trouble making a slow version of a song in Sony Time Stretch or Cakewalk Time/Pitch Stretch. After stretching the song %150, and then rendering as an mp3, the new version, which should be one-and-a-half times as long, right?, it's the same length as the original, only slower, with the last part of the song cut off. What am I missing here?

Just got the same result using the percentage and time options in Sony Time Stretch.
Try Control Dragging the song out the duration you require (dragging one end while holding down the Control key) and then render the track as a new file.

In the meantime I'll try and figure out what Time Stretch thinks it is doing, very weird!!!

Changing the playback rate/percentage/pitch does not alter the size of the event on the timeline. IF you change the playback rate to 66.67% (so that it will last 1.5 times as long), the song will still occupy the same length on the screen. The end of the event must be dragged out to correspond with the new end of the song.

Yep that's pretty much what was discovered.

It would be good though if Vegas did do this automatically as, dare I say it, ProTools does.

After all it means you have to drag the event out past it's normal end point and guess the correct duration.

In ProTools if I choose to do this under AudioSuite the new region automatically calculates its new length.

On the other hand the Control Drag in Vegas is a much cooler process than the corresponding version in ProTools where the new region is rerendered each time making minor adjustments a real pain.

If only we had the best from both, and other, DAWS.... wishfull thinking.
