Timecode/clock start point

I'm using the timecode in Track FX to run an on-screen clock but I want it to start at a certain point in the track's timeline. All I seem to be able to get it to do is start immediately at the track's beginning. Is there a way to display zero until I want it to begin running the clock? I've already tried moving the keyframe to the desired point but the clock still starts at the beginning of the track.

Probably the easiest thing to do is to split the event at the start point, then apply the timecode effect to just that portion of the event. It will start at 00:00:00;00 at that point and continue from there.

If you want to have a static 00:00:00;00 displayed before that point, you could create a still image of the timecode display at zero, then composite this into the parts of the event before the start point.

I usually create a new track, and then create a generated media event with the transparency slider set all the way down. I assign the timecode to the event, not to the track. The timecode starts at the beginning of the event, so all I have to do is move the event back and forth to align the beginning of the event with whatever event on another track that I want to time. This gives me a perfect starting time. I then use the Track Motion to move the timecode display around on the screen to position it wherever I want.
