Timecode speed question

Why is it that when you have a video clip and add the "timecode" FX, if you speed up the clip the timecode isn't sped up as well?

For example, you have a 1 minute clip, add the timecode FX, play the clip and the time goes from 1 to 60 seconds.

You speed up that same clip by 4x, I would have guessed that the timecode would still show 1 to 60 seconds, only showing much faster. But it doesn't the time goes (in this case) from 1 to 15 seconds.

Or if you slowed down a clip, I would have thought the time would still be 1 to 60, only showing much slower increments.

Is it not really the timecode from the video file or what? I don't understand.

Here is how it works:

If you add the Timecode FX to an event, you get the time offset of the event (not the media in the event) from the start of the event. Stretching the event makes it longer but doesn't affect the timecode readout. Each event starts at 00:00:00;00.

If you add the Timecode FX to a Track or the Master Video Bus you get the time offset from the beginning of the project based on the ruler. Note: you can set the ruler to start at a non-zero time and this will be reflected on the Track/Master Bus timecode FX.

If you add the Timecode FX to the Media in the Project Media pool you will get the timecode from the media. If you stretch an event that uses this media, the timecode will slow down and speed up just as you expected.

So, you need to add the timecode to the Media to get the effect you want.

Weird, but you're right (of course), it worked like you said. Thanks.
