Timeline Loses Videos (become blacked out)

Hello, I'm trying out Vegas Pro 9 trial version, and was trying to make a video from clips recorded on a HD video camera.

I have imported the clips to a new session, and dragged the ones I wanted onto the video timeline (I think that's what it's called). They play and render fine for a while when I preview the video, then suddenly some will become blacked out.

The only way to get them to render again, is to remove and re-add. Eventually they become blacked out again.

Is this a limitation of the trial version or is this a known issue? Any ideas how to fix this? It's extremely annoying and completely stops me from doing anything.

Thanks
Jay

It's a Memorex HD handheld (obtained from Woot.com). It produces *.AVI files.

Thanks

Apparently this camera uses some flavor of H.264 codec. Theses files are very compressed and Vegas might not have the best codec for them. If you don't already have it, try downloading and installing the K-Lite Codec and see if it helps. If it does nothing, then uninstall the K-Lite and no harm done. It's a free codec and one that I've used myself to solve such problems. I'm assuming you are running a 32 bit operating system.

K-Lite for 32 bit

IF this doesn't work you might need to convert these files to an AVI standard format that Vegas can work with. A free product called "Super" will do that.
