TImeline question

I would like to extend a three second video element to 5 seconds by "freeze-framing" the first and last frames. I am planning to perform some track motion during this extended 1 second start and finsih. There is audio in the three second video element that I do not want to distort by expanding the clip to 5 seconds.

I believe this can be done by capturing the first and last frame as a single frame image file, and then place them at the beginning and end of the current event. I would then expect to Group all three lements.

Is there a cleaner alternative (i realize there are always some alternatives) that would not require using three individual elements?

Thanks, Mike

You could zoom in, and split the clip after the first frame, and resize to 1 sec, and then adjust the velocity envelope to 0. And ditto with last frame.

Use a velocity envelope.

That is the best way.

I have done the frame grab method before many times, but it can cause problems especially if you do any effects to the footage. You can get a noticable "jump" at the transitioon point(s). If you just use a velocity envelope, you can do whatever you need to do with no worrys as to whether the transition is noticeable.

Thank you for the feedback and advice. This was exactly what I thought was possible.

It did take me a little while to realize Ignore Event Grouping was needed so that audio played in the original 3 second part of the clip.
