Timeline sections are red-what does that mean??

I opened up my project I have been working on - it has about 1 hr of edited pieces of video. A few pieces of it are red and the project say "Sony Vegas not responding" What is the fix of this? My back-up has the same thing going on.

I think it means they are out of sync with the sound;
