Timeline Sequence

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong. Occassionally when I am building a timeline each file I add to the timeline duplicates and is added to the timeline at some point further down the timeline. IF ,,,, I don't recognize that this is happening, the video renders to the end with a large black middle portion, then the duplicates of the original video... Recently, my 2 minute 38 second movie became a 12 minute movie with about 9 minutes of black frames ,,,, What is causing the files to duplicate and be added to the timeline?

I've got much the same problem except that it's only happening with stills and there's no space between the duplicates.

To prevent the above from happening, I have made it a habit of right clicking on a frame just past the ending of my movie ,,, selecting everything to the end and then Delete ,,, then save ,,, then render ,,,, might be a long way around, but an ounce of prevention,,,,,,,

I've read your post a couple of times...makes no sense to me...

Just wondering if it could have something to do with 'ripple edits', and cut and/or copy pasting??

Just a shot in the dark...
