Timmer Problem?

I have not been impressed with the trimmer. I open a clip in the trimmer, play with the size of the slider to get the right time perspective, and then I would like to drag the slider to "scrub" the video and quickly find the scene I am looking for. This DOESN'T WORK! When dragging the slider in the trimmer, the video LOOKS like it is moving, but the frames that were displayed before I started dragging are just being redrawn until I let go of the slider. Once I let go of the slider, the shown frames redraw and show me where I am - not useful! I expect the video to be shown as I drag the slider in the trimmer so that I can see where I am. It seems to me that this would be the only logical way it should work.

Am I missing something? Am I using the trimmer wrong? I have read the doc, etc. Granted, I am coming from a more consumer oriented product (Pinnacle Studio 8), but it just seemed so much more intuitive.

Eemmmmm---that doesn't make sense. You open the clip in the trimmer---then above the clip you drag and set the in and out. Then if you put your cursor on the highlighted section, you can drag it back and forth and the image move accordingly-(the highlighted area is in blue). It's that simple.

Hi Ken,

You might try dragging the mouse *in the trimmer* to highlight a range with the loop selector. The *preview window* will show the exact frame you are dragging at.

Once you have a range selected, that is essentially your IN and OUT. You can save those points by tapping the R key and naming the region, just like you might make a sub-clip.

You can then drag the selected range to the timeline as an event.

Thanks for the tips. Maybe I just wasn't using it correctly. I will give it a try tonight.
