TIP: Finding THAT Still or Start for Button.

Grazie wrote on 4/3/2010, 9:22 PM
I like to have a still or an animated selection going on in the button. But trying to locate the precise frame has been a bit hit and miss for me. Until I stumbled on holding the Ctrl key whilst scrubbing the

Mask | Start time slider .

This has the effect of putting a brake on the "enthusiasm" of the slider to go by whole chunks of time/frames, without much fine control. I also make the:

Button Properties | Media | Mask really wide!

Try it, you might like it.

Grazie,

You can also find the frame you want on the timeline and assign that to a button. Move cursor to desire frame, clip on button in PROJECT OVERVIEW, rightclick, Set Thumbnail from view. Then select still or animated from the Button Properties Media.

DT2 - wow! All I have to do now, is remember it! Maybe it's 'cos I do activity when I am at the point of executing it (I'm working on Buttons), that I think to do the action that I wanted (meaning I wouldn't think to got to the Timeline).

As I said, all I have to do now is to remember it.

Thanks,

Grazie

Yeah. I agree, it would be better if you could rightclick on the button first and say SELECT THUMBNAIL, then go to the timeline, find your frame and hit ENTER or something.

You have to plan a little more than I like for this procedure, but if you have an hour long timeline, it is easier to find a thumbnail this way, since you can zoom the timeline way in.

Yes, it's good ain't it?

Holding Ctrl when you move any slider within Vegas FX gives similar fine control as well.

Yes, Richard, you're quite correct. Most likely I picked this up from wanting to adjust Gaussian Blur - works a treat there too!
