Tip on 2 camera edit.

Sorry if it has been posted before.

I had to do a two camera edit this week, a Pantomime, one camera on wide and the other following lead characters or action.(CU) this camera had a direct feed from the sound mixer. (Sony VX9000)

The las time I did this was last year on the Casablanca unit, easy enough but tedious. the whole pantomime was 2 hours & 20 Min's.

I put the "Close Up" take on the top track and the "Wide" underneath, with the two audio tracks below that, after syncing video and audio from both clips I locked both the audio and Wide clips. Then I highlight the CU clip.
I then play the TL from the beginning and every time I wanted a clip I just pressed "S" and the CU clip split at that point. You can then go back and delete the clips in between the splits, you make any final adjustments as well or just pull the clip all the over to effectively remove the cut.

If you wanted to see both clips at once, you could PIP the clips to enable you to see both clips at once while using The above method.

There are multiple methods for multi-cam editing. Look at issue #9 of my newsletter to see 4 different methods described.

Hi I looked at the issue, wished I looked before i started, but still manged to figured it out.
I do not have Excalibur so found this way to achieve my result, the good bit is you split as you watch, which is a not mentioned in the issue 9 they are all manually done. where as with this you split as you edit as you watch.
