Title - characters appearing one at a time

I want to create the following effect on screen for titles.

Let us say I want the word CAMERA to appear on the screen.
What I would like is C to first appear, then A to appear adjacent to C, then M to appear adjacent to A .......

When someone is watching the video, I would like it to appear as if they are seeing someone typing on the screen.
Like a ghost movie. !!!!

Is this simple/doable. Has there been a posting about this earlier ? If so, please tell me the subject.

I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Edition.

you can key frame this in, or you can use a mask to reveal the type, either one. If you need some help with masking, there is a tutorial on the VASST site. If you want them hard viewed rather than fading in at all, i'd keyframe it, because whether you use the text tool or a mask track, you'll still be putting in several keyframes, and there is no point in using a mask for that. Use the "hold" keyframes. Right click the keyframe and choose "hold".

Probably lots of different ways but try word on one track ,generated black on track above then use track motion and keyframes to uncover the word. Set type of keyframe to hold and it will sharply display the letter. I just did spots keying from inside the text generator and it's very quick and easy.

I am not familiar in the use of track motion nor key frames. I tried key frames when I was doing PIP and did not not know how to use it-completely messed it up.

Is there good article with example on these two topics that you can suggest ?

jimmyz, I did not understand what you were saying. Obviously my level of proficiency is lower than yours.
