Title &Root Menu access Programming

Hi everyone. This is my first post to this forum. I look forward to being part of the group.

I have experience with Sonic Scenarist. This DVD authoring solution provides full access to all domains defined by the DVD-Video specification. That said, it seems that DVD Architect does not.

There are two buttons on a DVD remote:

1. Top Menu (Title Menu) that accesses material or menu within the Video Manager domain.

2. Menu(Root Menu) that accesses material or menu within the Video Title Set domain.

I can not seem to be able to program my DVD project in DVD Architect to access these areas via the standard DVD remote control buttons.

Does anyone out there have a script or method for accomplishing this within the DVD Architect 4.0a product?

Best,

Correct, DVDA does not give you the same level of access that you had with Scenarist. In fact, DVDA has a pretty hefty abstraction layer whose main purpose is to hide all the nit-picky details from you. Even the scripting capabilities provided in the 4.0 release have a level of abstraction that you won't find in Scenarist.

In DVDA you can specify which menu is considered the root menu in the VTS, but you cannot control or access what DVDA has in the VMG.

PGCedit or IFOedit would give you the access needed after the project has been prepared in DVDA, but if you really need that level of access, DVDA is probably not the authoring tool for you.

If you're not interested in spending $20,000 on Scenarist (or whatever it is they're charging these days, DVD Lab Pro from Mediachance is going to be your best bet. DLP's abstraction layer is fairly simple and can be disabled if you want. You can also access the VMG and multiple VTS's as well as all the low-level stuff you're likely already familiar with.
