Titles disappear

Using VMS 8P and Nero:
This is new: Burned three movies, both .vf file and mpeg renders show lovely opening and closing titles. On playing in DVD player, neither appear. Back at the computer, the windows media player shows the movies with titles just fine. Can't figure out what my assistant has done wrong, We've not had this problem before.
Summary: Why would a disk (DVD+R) be playable on WMP, but not a DVD player?

Were the opening and closing titles rendered separately, or are they part of the movie file?
Did you use markers to create 'chapters'?
I have no experience with Nero, but perhaps nero ignored the first and last chapter? Just brainstorming here....

Hi Ivan:
The titles were part of the movie file, not rendered separately.
No markers or chapters were used. I'm using Nero because I've wasted so much time trying to implement DVDA. I find it arcane.
I've looked back at NERO to see how it might have done that, but can't find anything. Ther funny part is the mpeg2 disk plays the titles on WMP, but not on PowerDVD, or on a standalone. The data must actually be there.
This is a relatively new burner, but I have been successful with it last week. Possibly a DVD+R issue?
Anyway, thanks for your time,
Reg
