There has been several threads on titles in this forum.
You'll find some Vegas tutorials at Creative Cow

You'll need to do three things: Experiment, experiment and experiment.
With the text generator you can use any TrueType font and manipulate it with FXs and pan/crop. If you can create good typography in the first place, very little extra is needed.
If you click on Help when your are in a Vegas FX you get a description of what that FX does. You'll also need to learn about how different video tracks relate to each other in Vegas.
The manual's not bad, either.
Maybe if you specify what you want someone will give you a more precise answer. Good luck.
I have found that the best way to get what you are seeking in terms of color, font, size, and placement is to use the Preview on External Monitor feature of the editor.
That way you can see exactly what you are going to get. In terms of other hints, use the Search feature of this forum. It works very well and has saved me from having to post time after time.
for good fonts goto www.larabiefonts.com They have really cool fonts here and the majority of them are free to download and use. If you select the "download pig" option on the homepage you can download a zip file that contains all of there free fonts. To install, just extract the zip to your fonts folder in windows. Or you can just download individual fonts as well. -Shon
The best thing to do is look at other video productions and see what they do. I couldn't figure out why my rolling credits didn't look as good as the movies do. Then I really started looking at the movies rolling credits and noticed that the person's name on the right is NEVER in the same style as the character name on the left. Usually the left side is italic while the right side isn't, or the left side is mixed case while the right side is all capital letters. It's these little things that give the title the quality it has. The same is true for lower thirds. Watch CNN and observe how they lay out names and occupations at the bottom of the screen. Then try to mimic that and add your own style.
So there are two things that you should do: "observe", "experiment", "observe some more", oh... that's three things. ok then, there are three things you should do: "observe", "experiment", "observe some more", "experiment some more"... opps that's four things... right then, there are four things you should do... ;-)
