Titling Bar

I'm wanting to create a gradient "bar" across the bottom of the screen and place solid text over the top of that. When I create a Color Gradient backdrop, I can change its size down to what I'd like, but I can't move it to the bottom of the viewing area. It stays dead center of the screen. Obviously, not a good place to have it for what I'm after.

Any help on this???

Create the graphic full frame size (654x480 for NTSC), but only draw the gradient in the lower section. Leave the rest blank and save it with that color transparent (if you can) or as a solid color that doesn't appear in the gradient. When you import it you can use the alpha channel (if you could save it with transparency) or Chroma key (if you didn't have transparency and you have Movie Studio 3) to allow the rest of the video to show through the upper area.

When you say "create the graphic", is that something I do within Movie Studio 3 or another app?

I use PSP 8.0 and save the image as PNG, then place it in the timeline on the video overlay.

You could also use the Color Gradient in particular the Linear, Title bar (under Text & Backdrops).
Give that a try!

Another option is to use the Pan/Crop feature on the gradient piece and position it so it only appears in the bottom part of the screen.

It sounds like you’re almost there with the color gradient approach. If you click on the cross hairs in the middle of the color gradient the cursor will change into a hand and you can drag your color bar to the bottom of the screen where you want it.

Thanks guys, the "PNG" format was the "hitch" I was missing!
