Titling HDV 1440

Hi all -

Here's a new one on me...
am titling 1440 HDV files using standard Vegas title tool.

Even though I'm setting the top setting to 1440x1080, it's still cutting me off in a 4:3 format. I'm sure it's just one leetle button somewhere.

Any help here?

)Of course - I need this just ONE week before the new titler is here(

But I'm racing to a festival deadline.

If you've got project properties that are widescreen, then the titler should only be inserting widescreen titles, regardless of whether you're using presets or not.
Can you confirm you're using a widescreen project setting?

Absolutely - and with no deviations from standard widescreen 1080i as proscribed by Sony.

OK - just went to "ground zero" and started a brand new project in widescreen.
Title tool fine.

So what do you suggest to convert the 1:20:00 - 27 track project to make the title tool work correctly?

Obviously somewhere along the way (ver 121) something got smashed.

In a worst case scenario I'll just render the show and then title in a new project.

Right click on the title event in the timeline and select properties. Go to the second tab and make sure the PAR is set to 1.33 (HDV 1080). This is the default when starting a new project for titles, hence why the problem corrected itself. Once a title is created on the timeline, changing the PAR in the project properties has no effect on the event PAR.

Unless you're rendering to uncompressed, I surely wouldn't do this. You'll lose quality.
Instead, check:
Track Motion (be sure it's not in 4;3 mode)
Pan/Crop for the events (be sure it's not in 4;3 mode)
PAR (Be sure it's at 1.333)
If you created even one title in 4:3 and then copy/pasted it down the line, they'll all be 4:3.
Do they look squished, or are the titles only small?
Additionally, check the resolution of the titles themselves. They should each be 1440 x 1080 at PAR of 1.333 or 1920 x 1080 at PAR of 1.0.
