Titling Programs

Ok, since no one will answer my subject of "3d raytracing programs)
I have rephrased it.

Which programs will make GREAT animations like the beginning of "Terminator"
with the chrome plated title.

I've seen uleads cool 3d and it sucks for its realism.
I've tried other cheap programs but just like uleads the final render sucks like a cartoon
or just plain cheap 3d titles.

Is Truespace able to make photorealistic animations like lightwave or Cinema4?

I haven't used any of the other applications (yet) to do some of the 3d titles and such...but, I gues it all depends on the user.

That is to say - from my POV anyway - the applications are like a blank canvas. Depending on the amount of work you put into the art (lighting, reflection, etc) you can get pretty much all you need....then if you use the tools available in VV (color correction, etc) you can tweak what you need to get a good result.

But I can say (from experience) that working with stills works out really really good (and animating them in VV) if the source material has a good resolution. I screwed around and got a very very tiny picture I wanted to use as a background in this little test I was doing. When it was on my web page it looked great - but importing to VV it looked like crap.

But that was because the picture only had good resolution for a webpage (it was only like 10 KB). I then tested a digipic I took with my digicam at Sox Park (I refuse to call it U.S. Cellular Field) - and because it was a high res image - it turned out great in VV.

Know what I"m sayin????

Interestingly, the Titling section of Pinnacle Studio has a good chrome effect. The rest of the program has a ptitful reputation, and seldom works, but the titles are OK.
