To Sony Forum Managers

I have a suggestion. Why not merge the DVDA forum with the Vegas Video forum?
When you first set up that forum there were more people using it than now, but they drifted back to this one for questions regarding both Vegas Video and DVDA because solutions to problems with DVDA and Vegas Video are often tied together.
Moreover, it's a lot more convenient to post both types of questions here. If others disagree with this suggestion please respond.

I concur. Initially I tried posting to DVDA when I thought it was appropriate. However, the seldom activity in the DVDA forum always forced me to repost the same message in the Vegas Forum. Now I always post to this forum for both Vegas and DVDA questions.

I agree; It would certainly be less OT than some of the posts we've had lately.

But there are a LOT of people here like myself who just use Vegas and diffrent DVD authoring packages, not DVD-A, then we have to sort through all the topics to find which ones are Vegas related and which are DVD-A related.

According to my calculations (taking an average of threads posted there for the last several days) you'd be sorting through about 3.6 per day. It's a pretty dead site. But I can appreciate your concern.

Maybe if they combine the forums they could put a little bullet next to the posts that are DVD-A related and that way we would know which ones are Vegas and which ones aren't

Here's a better idea, and one that I think would ultimately generate more cash for Sony Media Software.

1. Unbundle DVDA from Vegas and sell it as a standalone application.

2. Give registered DVDA users a break on the price of purchasing Vegas.

This would likely increase the DVDA user base, increase traffic to the DVDA forum, and introduce more folks to the Sony Media Software line.

I never did understand Sonic Foundry's logic in forcing you to buy Vegas if you just wanted DVDA.

I think they should just leave it the way it is untill the next release of DVD-A and hoping that it will be a better authoring package that can "stand on it's own" and offer a lot more of the key features that are needed by DVD Authorers today.

I agree that combining the two forums is a good idea. I see that this is where most people visit and it's a generally better fount of info. -mjr
