To Spot: Repositioning the timeline.

Hello

You write in your book Vegas 5 on page 19: “By modifying Vegas 5’s internal preferences for Docking to TRUE, you can flip the docking area to the top of the computer monitor. This is great for situations where monitors sit high on a shelf, letting the timeline be at the bottom of the monitor.”

Question: Where do I find the “internal preferences” where I can change this setting?

Regards,
Joran

CAUTION!
In accessing this area, you can screw up Vegas if you don't know what you're doing and will need to reset Vegas if you blow it.

While holding the SHIFT KEY, access Preferences (it says this in the book) and you'll see a tab marked "Internal." Search for the word "Dock" in the word field.
Change this to TRUE.

Close the prefs window, your timeline will be flipped to the bottom of the screen.

What you do Joran is go to Options, press and hold the shift key and the click on Preferences. An internal tab will appear. Search for the frame docking and change it to TRUE as Spot suggested.

One of the nice this regarding this is that the docking preference will be saved with the window layout, so you only have to mess in your internal preferences once, you then save a layout and you can switch from bottom to top using the shortcut keys.

When I first read about this I thought I would like it but I had to change back because it annoyed me that if I went to the media pool, effects tab, media generator etc. and dragged something down to the timeline, the tab I was on would switch to whatever I tab I would drag over. Not sure if I'm wording it in a way that makes sense, but anyway, ended up changing it back to the tried and true.

Muttley :
I have the same probem.
Since this is not supported I guess we can't ask for a fix but it would be nice...

Sony is aware of the problem. What that may or may not mean, I don't know. But I've talked about this with their engineers.
