Too many activations of Vegas

I love Vegas.

I've rebuilt my system completely from scratch and I'm not able to activate Vegas, apparently having done so too many times already. I've had the same problem with other Sony products and have been able to resolve the issue via live chat. I'm not able to find that feature now. Moreover, I'm not able to ask for help by email, because that site asks for information that I don't have handy because I can't open the program. Can someone please provde a web address for live chat, or offer a suggestion as to how to proceed?

Thanks in advance.

Your "My Software" page under "Forum Settings" should have the information you need to negotiate activation with Customer Service. Every piece of software you have ever registered with Sony (or Sonic Foundry) will be listed there.

Thanks for responding. I am able to navigate to the "My Software" page and retrieve the information. I've spent several hours trying to find my way to the live chat function, with no luck. I know that I've used it for free in the past - in February of this year, for example. Perhaps Sony has eliminated it. Moreover, while I'm able to sign in to my account - the website recognizes my email address and password - I'm not able to procede to the place where I can email for support. The web page asks for my email address and password, but insists that it does not recognize my User ID. It asks only for the email address in that regard. At this point, I may give up and pay $29 to be able to email customer support. Any thoughts before I resort to that? Thanks in advance.

Are you accessing the Support form at www.custcenter.com? This is the support site for resetting your activations.

Presuming you are entering the same email address as you used to log in to your account, then this should work to raise a support request to sort the activations out.

Thanks for responding. I just got off the phone with a live person at the Sony support number, 800-577-6642. She told me that I must create a separate account to email a question. The fact that I can login to "My Account" doesn't give me access to send a question by email. For that, I must first create the second account. Haven't tried yet, but I'll post again if there's still a problem, in case someone else has the same question.

Same problems happened to me with Sound Forge 8, CD-Architect 5.2 and Noise Reduction 2.0.

Chatted with customer support a few times and eventually everything panned out smoothly, no problems migrating them to Windows 7 afterward. You just have to get in touch with them if problems like this persists, but a hassle indeed.

Customer Service took care of the situation and Vegas is now activated. As I mentioned earlier, I needed to create a second account to gain access by email. When I tried that, I got a screen that said "Internal Server Error". I called the same 800 number, selected option 1 and then option 7 (as before). The lady who answered immediately created the second account for me and initiated an incident report, which I promptly received by email. I explained the problem by email, they worked the situation, and all's well.

Thanks again to all who responded. I appreciate it.
