Too Much Zoom - Result Blur

Sweet Charles wrote on 2/13/2015, 11:05 AM
Regretfully, I used way too much Zoom in my video. Unfortunately the blurred bluebird's in my clip I want very much to use.

Is there a plugin, or an fx effect which I may be able to use?

I've spent so much time trying to figure this out.

The closest I've come to solving this was with the optical stabilizer, but my bird's are
still way to blurry.

Any and all suggestions will be very warmly welcomed.

Sincerely,
Sweet Charles

Zoom as in you had digital zoom turned on in you cam?

You may be to use the Sony Sharpen or Sony Unsharp effects but I very much doubt it will help in your situation.

Dear MSmart,

When I was filming I manually increased Zoom hoping after a slight delay the zoom capability
I was looking for would catch up. It never did. Completely my fault. I was trying for too much.

Thank you so much for your timely response.

Sincerely,
Sweet Charles

Many cameras have two kinds of zoom ... optical and digital. Optical zoom is the best. If not locked out, you can zoom to the end of your optical zoom capability and then the camera will change to digital zoom. (usually there is a marker on the zoom scale to indicate this crossover point)

Digital zoom is obtained by using fewer and fewer pixels on the sensor (throwing away the pixels around the edge) Thus you are "zoomed in" but you are also loosing resolution. The more digital zoom the lower your resolution.

Dear Brighterside,

Thank you very much for taking time to read my message and reply.

I'm anxious to try to retrieve in optical just before or at the crossover point.

Sincerely,
Sweet Charles

I find this situation when I zoom (via animated Event Pan/Crop) my GoPro footage. I use Sony Sharpen, and select Animate. I set the first Keyframe to either 0 sharpen or a little sharpen (and select Smooth Fade option). I set the Keyframe at the end of the clip to maximum or wherever looks good.
