Toolbar button for "Enable Multicamera Editing"

I recently upgraded from Vegas Pro v16 to v18 and am currently working on a project where I have created a Multicamera Track with six sub-tracks. My PC is running Windows 10 with an i9-9900K CPU at 3.6GHz, 32GB of memory and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070. With multicam editing enabled, my preview screen is sluggish, skipping about 9 out of every 10 frames, even when in Preview->Auto. With multicam editing disabled, I can run in Preview->Full with no dropped frames. The source media are all 1080p 30fps intermediate files made with the "MAGIX Intermediate" rendering template.

I find that I am frequently toggling the Multicamera Editing mode using the "ctrl-shift-D" key combination. That was fine for the first thousand times I did it, but now that the white marking are completely worn off of those three keys, I'm hoping for an easier shortcut to use! I thought I would be able to add a button to one of the toolbars, but I searched though all of the options under Options->Customize and did not see Enable Multicamera Editing anywhere. Does anyone know of a way to do it? I do also have the Vegasaur extension package installed, but didn't see anything under there to help, either. Second best approach would be to assign one of the "F" function keys to mimic "ctrl-shift-D" with the convenience of one button click, but I couldn't figure out how to do that, either. So, I'm giving up at this point and hoping someone knows how to add a toolbar button.

Here is what the CPU and GPU usage look like for a few seconds in each step of this sequence:
1. Playback stopped
2. Playback started with Multicamera Editing disabled
3. Multicamera Editing enabled

The six media files are all on my SSD. With multicamera enabled, it looks like the SSD is not anywhere near it's maximum transfer rate. So, I guess it must be the CPU at 85% that's slowing things down.

Maybe somebody could write a script so you could add that as a button. If you have a Contour Shuttle, you could assign a button on it.

Thanks, Doug, for suggesting the Contour Shuttle. That would definitely do what I need. I've been editing for many years using just keyboard and mouse. Looks like I need to buy a shuttle.

I highly recommend the Contour. You can program macros for mutliple functions as well as the jog and shuttle knobs. All buttons can be set for any keystroke or combination.

I will get one. In the meantime, I'm borrowing my son's gaming mouse and I've programmed the scroll wheel to send ctrl-shift-D when I press it down. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!
