"Top" button inaccessable

Noob here with DVDAS5 - first substantial project (wedding) with menus.

All my buttons work as advertised except the one in the lower-right side which points up. I call it the "Top" button because it should take you back to the top-most menu. I think the operation is a bit odd. At first I thought it didn't work at all because I couldn't even select it with the remote control button. It worked fine though when selected with a mouse on the PC. So. I tried again on the Blu-ray player and got it to work - but.....

On the bottom of a default scenes menu page there are three buttons - back (except of course for the first page) and forward a page - and the "Top" or Main menu button on the right. On my disk I use the remote control down arrow button to reach that lowest row and then use the remote right button to move from the back arrow button to the forward arrow button but pressing the remote right arrow again gets me the last scene button instead of the Top menu button.

I stumbled upon the fact that I can indeed get to the Top menu button by pressing the remote control right button one more time. This seems like odd behavior to me. It should not select the last scene button first.

I hope I described the problem adequately. It is a minor annoyance but perhaps someone here knows what the solution is.

First make sure none of these buttons overlap one another. That can cause problems.

Then click on the Navigation Tool button on the upper right of the Workspace panel (the big panel in the center top of the interface). This will display all of your buttons with arrows pointing between them. These arrows represent the order your DVD remote control will move from button to button. This should show you how to get to the Top button.

If you're interested, I detail all of this stuff with lots of color illustrations in my Muvipix.com Guide to DVD Architect Studio, available on Amazon.com. I'm still working on updating it for version 5 -- but the two versions are virtually identical (except that 4.5 doesn't burn BluRays) so 99% of the book will still be a valid help.

Hi Steve! Thanks for the advice.

I corrected some problems with my project and I'm right in the middle of a two hour render of my wedding video so can't really try the remedy yet. I was hoping your book would arrive today but no luck. So far I am quite happy with this software. Elements version 2 is still installed on my machine but I am rapidly moving on now.

Hey Steve, I found the Navigation tool and was able program the buttons to behave more exactly like I wanted, rather than the defaults. Great! I especially wanted to get to the bottom row, previous/next scenes menu buttons quickly by pressing the remote control UP arrow key. No problem selecting the properties to do so. Thanks again.

My render was scratched because my Wedding Video Design Consultant (wife) didn't like the theme I chose nor the small buttons with hard to read scene names. New theme, wedding 5 instead of wedding 4, and learning how to make the buttons and scenes text larger so even senior citizens can read it! I can't believe I stumbled through this on my own. I think they are sending your book by Pony Express <frown>. I sure could have used it.

Any solution that works is a great solution, Ken! Thanks for reporting back!
