What is this Sony socket called?

Would it be available for purchase separately?

It usually is situated on Sony Camera power adapters. (As many of you may recognize it)
I have a Sony DK-415 Battery Eliminator cable that has the female version of that socket (the cable came with the pictured adapter).

I want to use the Sony DK 415 cable to power a 7inch (Sony NPF battery powered) monitor at a distance. Using a NP-F970 on a cradle (at a distance), the cradle has a default DC plug. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/53936168/Sony_Forum/NPFcradle.jpg

So If I can buy/acquire the pictured socket then I can attach that to the NP-F970 cradle, and connect the Sony DK 415 on it without modifying the cable. The cable being part of my camera is more valuable to me than the cradle.

Here in Europe they don't seem to sell the Sony DK 415 cable separately, otherwise I would just buy another one and modify it without hesitation.

Thanks in advance,
VMP

That Sonly socket and plug AFAIK is totally proprietary, the same goes for a number of the other DC power connectors that Sony have used over the years.

If I'm understanding what you want to do then you don't need to buy the DK 415 assembly. Get an old Sony battery and hack that up, you could even buy a 3rd party one for a few dollars on eBay and hack that up as the dummy battery to get the power into the monitor.

Thanks Bob,

Indeed I have thought about that option too :-).
Ok if that is the case with the socket then I am going to look for a cheap/dummy battery.

You could make an adaptor by poking in some wire terminated with pins, then building up a "plug body" with that thermo-plastic mouldable stuff....
