Totally OT: album recommendation

I just came back from an in-store appearance from an amazing new singer. Both her and her band are called L.P. Her website is lprock.com and you can listen to the entire album there.

The new album is called Surburban Sprawl and Alcolhol. The style is hard-rock with a lot of 70's influences. Man, does this girl have pipes.

No kidding!!! Dang! She's got a great voice. When I was in NYC, I also went to hear Sophia Ramos, who also took my breath away.
Just ordered the new album from L.P., it's just the kind of edge I like when working in the office. Thanks for the heads up!

Check out the song "Perfect" from the first album. That album's good too. I'll probably buy it at one of her shows. She had a bad deal with first record company, but she will be touring heavily behind this album.

Then check out the downloads. I don't know why but her best song is only on the downloads.

Bad deal with the record company? naaaaahhhhhhh....That NEVER happens. Just ask Prince, Madonna, Huey Lewis, Billy Joel, me....:-)
I've listened to all the songs she's got on the site in the past few mins...I like most of them. Very passionate. Mixes are a little weak, too 60's sounding for me, but that's what we have EQ for...Thanks again for the pointer.
Ifyou get a second and you like LP, you'll love Sophia Ramos. I'd never heard of her until I was in NYC for VASST, and someone was listening to her on their laptop there. So, I went and tracked her down, apparently she plays in small clubs there a lot.

Have you listened to the mp3s? Check out "Only The Good." It's heartbreaking.

Yeah, I just checked out Sophia Ramos's site. Surprisinly similar sounds. Great vocals. I think I will check her out when she gigs. Unfortunately, it seems she plays some of the lousier clubs on Bleeker Street. It's hard to draw the NY rock crowd to Bleeker street.

When you say the mixes are weak, do you mean too thin? They definitely don't capture the sound of the band live. Personally I think they could push up the bottom end.

L.P. is playing the Mercury Lounge tomorrow if anybody cares.

Solid stuff happening there! Her sound is reminiscent of early Grace Slick. Thanks for sharing that, Buster!

Saw L.P. last night in Brooklyn. She was smoking. She seems to be getting better week by week. Fantastic show.
