Toughts on Acid from a Vegas user

I downloaded the ACID 6 trial to have a look at the software. I tried version 5 when it came out but was turned off by the fact it did not do multitrack recording.

Now that it does I decided to try it out again. I find the midi features really nice, well implemented. Multitrack recording is nice but I really miss a feature from Vegas : the ability to timestretch/Pitch shift an event by ctrl-dragging the edge. Any other ACID user miss this feature ? I'd be curious to have other impressions from Vegas users who tried Acid.

One thought: You might get more answers in the ACID forum (although there are quite a few ACID users here as well).

I wrote a book on ACID once… so did Tom Wolf. But I think he had more fun writing his. ;-)

After loading up Acid Pro 6 I then did the serial number bit for Kompakt. Five "5-number groups" for serial number, eight "5-number groups" for system ID, then finally twelve "5-number groups" for authorization code. That's more than the military uses for top secret code books. When is this crap going to stop.

I agree it's gotten rather ridiculous. I'm working on a serial number/activation scheme for some of my software and had settled on 16 characters, but i'm now seriously considering dropping back to 8. That's still more than enough to stop casual pirating and track serial numbers. The longer codes are useless because determined pirates are merely going to use a crack anyway.
