Track FX run serial, assignable FX parallel.

Meaning that the whole signal goes through the track FX, but the assignable FX are mixed in with the signal.

Obviously this means you don't put compressors, etc. in the assignable section 'cause they only mix the compressed signal in with the original signal, they don't replace the signal with the effected one. Unless for some reason you want to do this. For instance, I'll chain a compressor after a reverb or wah or something in the assignable section, but I wouldn't use it on its' own.

Also, assignable FX can be automated (via envelopes like volume and pan) and several tracks can be assigned to the same FX (like a verb) thereby limiting CPU drain.
