Track Motion does not work!

In one of my Sony Vegas 7.0 projects, my track motion does not work for any of the tracks. I'm trying to re-postion a jpeg in one of my videos and it's not working. I can change the position numbers and resize the square in the Track Motion window, but nothing is happeneing to my jpeg. I even have a logo in the corner of my video window and I can't reposition that either!

I opened another project and it works fine.

Hope someone can help. This only seems to happen when I have a project due immeadiatly.

Thanks,
Ken

This can happen if you have created keyframes on the track. What can happen, depending on things that take too long to explain, is that the position of the cursor in the track dialog does not match the position on the track of the JPEG image you are trying to affect. As a result, the changes you are making are actually affecting a completely different portion of your project. This means that in addition to not being able to move the JPEG, you may also find that elsewhere on your track, there is now a wild, unintended move or re-sizing that you didn't intend (make sure to go look for that after you do what I suggest below).

Solution: In the track dialog, click on the "Sync Cursor" icon (lower left corner, directly below the keyframe track). Immediately un-click it. Now go ahead and make your changes and see if it does what you want.

I generally recommend NOT keeping the Sync Cursor button enabled because it can cause even more problems than the one you are having. However, everyone's workflow is different, so despite my recommendation above about turning it off immediately, you could try leaving it on and see if all goes well.

Oh geeze. I rotated, resized like crazy. I wonder what portion of my project is screwed now!

Thanks a lot for that detailed explanation johnmeyer. I appreciate it.
